YMCA MOVEMENT
The
Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) is one of the oldest
movements, which stands for the betterment of people and to
rebuild communities. YMCA offers variety programmes and
activities to build a community of Justice with Love, peace and
Reconciliation. It promotes & a holistic approach of
developing Mind, Body and Spirit.
YMCA
is a world wide movement of over 40 million members with 18000
unit YMCAs spreading over 130 countries around the world. In
India alone the YMCA has over 700 units with more than 1 Lakh
members. YMCA was founded by Sir George Williams in London for
betterment of youth. It promote Christ’s ideal of sacrificial
love and service. Its activities are promoted by concern for our
fellowmen. It welcomes its fellowship of people irrespective of
faiths, creed & religion and those having none of this.

YMCA, located in the southern side of Kerala, is affiliated to
World Alliance of YMCAs, Asia pacific Alliance of YMCAs and
National Council of YMCAs of India.

YMCA is one of the oldest and vibrant YMCAs in the country
striving for Spiritual, Intellectual and physical well being of
individuals and wholeness of community. Kollam YMCA has one
branch, a Community College and different departments conducting
variety programmes and activities. It also provides
Accommodation facility, Conference facilities, Indoor and
Outdoor games, Cultural programs, Vocational training, Social
Services, Youth camp, Coaching camps, Medical camps etc.
